The Urban Enterprise Zone Program (UEZ) was enacted by the New Jersey State Legislature in 1983 to revitalize the State's most distressed urban communities through the creation of private sector jobs and public and private investment in targeted areas within these communities.
The Urban Enterprise Zone is an area designated by the State UEZ Authority. The establishment of these zones helps provide incentives for businesses to come to these communities and occupy existing facilities or build new.
The City of Bridgeton was designated an Urban Enterprise Zone in 1985.
UEZ applications, certifications and programs (projects) are developed in the City of Bridgeton Office of Development and Planning.
This department consists of four (4) staff members.

Message from the UEZ Coordinator
2008 proved to be a very dynamic year for the Bridgeton UEZ Office.
During the year we took a hard look at our current operations and worked directly with the State UEZ Field Office to improve and develop strategies aimed at efficiency and production.
It has not been an easy task, as the first 2 quarters ushered both staff and policy changes that were drastic in comparison to past years .
Looking forward, to beginning of Q1 2009, we are positioning ourselves to launch aggressive campaigns to support existing business and also attract new business into our newly renamed "Food-Business Parks", the (CBD) Central Business District and our 77N. Commercial Corridor. All of which fall within our Zone boundaries.
Again we urge you to contact our staff prior to any Planning/Zoning application submissions and new development.
We are available to discuss your plan and provide proper navigation at anytime throughout the process.
We are very excited to be your partner in building success in our city!
